The German train system is on strike until Monday. That is all BUT the ICE (intercity express) trains. So we did catch our 6:45 AM train from Brussels to Frankfurt. It was a little eerie to see all the trains parked. There were a few running but in most of the stations, like Koln and Bonn, we were the only train.
On the way to pick up the rental car we had this great Iranian cab ...
We arrive in Frankfurt around 11:00 a.m. David gets instructions on and where to take the train into the city. As we ride along I noticed that the color of the leaves are now turning yellow and orange. The country side is just beautiful. The part of the city that we saw was mapped out like a

From here, a series of walking trails allowed us different views of the Rhein, explore castles (though a lot of them are gated up so that tourists cannot go inside) and a chance to warm up in the cool 5c temperature. As shown in one of the videos below, Spring has yet to have sprung, but they are pleasant walking tracks anyway and the crispness in the air is refreshing.
