When I met up with Baptiste in Granada I told him of my plans to visit Nice on my way from Barcelona to Cinque Terre and that the reason for this was that I wanted to spend some time on the beaches of the Mediterranean. He advised me that the beaches in Nice were not very good and recommended that I instead go to Montpelier.
