Great hotel on a retail park ! Odd place for a hotel but stayed in here a couple of times...reasonable prices, comfortable rooms and great breakfasts. Ideal for stop when your passing through

Busy day today. Lunch at a friend's house in Asti and dinner with the son of Annalia's mother's best friend. Complicated I know. Taking a train to Asti. I don't know the exact temperature but Dante's Inferno could be an accurate description. If this isn't global warming what is it. You can see the fields of corn dying from lack of water. Nice lunch and visit and back on the train. Dinner with ...

So on we went but we only got as far as Pavia which turned out to be a very big old town with a lot of history but rather ugly in our opinion. We had a half hearted attempt at exploring but gave up on our bikes after an hour and a half as it was just too hot. There was a beautiful looking river but we saw no one else in the water so guessed perhaps that it wasn't that clean because ...

... but we didn't get to taste it. Some of the group bought wine but I chose not to even through the prices were good. A smashed bottle of schnapps at Heathrow still haunts me today. We weaved our way up the street to La Miraja di Gatti Eugenio for lunch. For 20 euros we were given antipasti, two courses and dessert plus wine - great food and great value. Instead of pasta I had asparagus risotto (delicious) and while everyone ...

Thursday Ljubljana to Treviso, Italy 585K

Lovely journey through what was left of Slovenia with views of wide valleys and mountain ranges. Over the border to Italy where the hills were much less dramatic and,

of course, the roads were better, but busier. We stayed overnight at a small bed and breakfast at Treviso, not much to report there except that we got lost on the way ...
