... The river was really neat to see, as were the houses. The view up from the valley floor was incredible as well. This was a quick little part of our day, but worth mentioning!

The other thing I forgot was the scariest part of our trip. That's only because I'm terrified of heights, Jonathan was fine. We climbed the tower of the town hall building to get the view at the top. I guess I didn't really know what we were getting ourselves into, but maybe the fact that only ...

The next day we started with swim in the wonderful pool and then toured Bayreuth and its forest in car and on foot with our local guide ( Volker) taking us to his childhood playground and ski / toboggan slopes and past the old family homes. Dinner at the oldest brewery in the world with ...

... our street to the town square, where we were released, to reconvene there in 6 hours, at 8 pm. We first walked a few blocks to St. Jacob's Church, which although built in Catholic times and style in the 14th and 15th centuries, was not stripped when the Reformation arrived in Rothenburg. Whether due to someone's foresight, or pride in what the city had built to honor their beliefs, this amazing Gothic church, with ornately carved wooden altar ...
