... where you can see red-tiled roofs and towers in the background. We saw many towers including Siebers Tower which is a popular place to take photos. After all the walking, we got thirsty and stopped at a nice little pub and finally back to the hotel for dinner. The hotel restaurant was good and the owner makes the beer there. After a big meal and sampling all the house beers, the dark, pils and the hefeweizen I was done! It was a nice day in Rothenburg!
I totally forgot to mention two really neat parts of our day yesterday. So, here they are with some neat pics too!
First, during our walk along the city wall we found an exit with a long (and steep) path to the river valley below. From our B&B room we can see the cute village houses down there, so we figured we might as well check it out. For some reason we just keep choosing to walk up and down sleep hills and stairs! ... door, and when I held up my hand to indicate I wanted a table for two, I simply got a stern head shake "no" from a waitress. Well I guess that didn't work out. So we decided to pick one of the recommendations in our guide book. After wandering around a bit more we found it, popped in to ask for a table and got the exact same experience. Only this time she actually said "no full." What's a girl and a guy got to do to grab some dinner around here?! We're starting to think ...
... beautiful. We stopped at Creglingen for lunch. We spent the day driving through gorgeous town after gorgeous town.
We arrived at Rothenburg late afternoon, found some accomodation in a hotel which was nice & headed into the Old Town.
Rothenberg was beautiful in a Disneyland kind of way. (Not meant as a criticism as you know how we love Disney). We just felt it had a more staged, touristy feel to it. Probably not helped by the obvious bus loads of ...
... capped off a great day. Day 2 in Bayreuth also started with swimming and then a visit to near by Cruezen and Eingelmansreuth to continue the Lange family history tour of pubs and, mills and homes that are connected to the family, including a traditional pub meal in a Cruezen.
