... I balanced a plate on a stick on the palm of my hand not holding on. there was another one where you rolled it down your arms then it rolls down a stick then flipped it over. The man was really good at everything.


Swordfighting was really boring. All you had to do was hit a shield.


Last of all we made a shield painting and looked at a knight's tomb. The knight on the tomb looked like a normal person.

On our way back to Switzerland, we stayed in the capital of Burgundy, the city of Beaune. We rode about 495 kms in total this day, with mostly highway riding.

We went into the city center for a glass of wine and dinner. The centre is quite interesting, with many wine bars and restaurants.

The wine we had was good, but we needed more time to really get an appreciation of the local wines.

We had left Périguex early as we had a long ride of almost 500 km, and were using the main roads. In the Burgundy region, we started to take the secondary roads and we came along the side of the Canal du Centre and stopped to see one of the locks in operation.

Why do we spell it differently in English? We visited autun and walked up the hill to the cathederal, we saw chateau sully, and sent a cold wet day visiting chateau Le rochpot and beaunne. A dramatic start to the day - we picked up our car and then the trouble began. It is hard to remember all the instructions so we stalled the car when trying to get diesel, got honked and spent time in a panic trying to figure out how to get it started again.
