... 1937. We walked about half a mile to the Heidi property and saw the outside of the house but didn't pay the extra 8 francs each to go inside as this wasn't important to us, we enjoyed the beautiful scenery and farm animals instead. They have chickens, goats and a few gorgeous kids, one of them sucked my finger so hard I nearly lost my hand down it's throat. How disappointed it must have felt when it realised my finger wasn't it's mum or food. The surrounding properties ...

... dinner tonight. We once again had a heavy meal last night. It was good but we just aren't used to eating so much meat and potatoes. Prices in Switzerland are amazingly high. ... as a birthday pressie. This included hot showers and standing room, what a treat! To get there we had to catch a cable car to the vehicle free village of Gimmelwald. This is where we really fell in love with Switzerland. Set high amongst the Bernese Alps with the Eiger, Monch and Juangfrau (all famous 4000m+ peaks that stupid people climb) in view it was a spectacular scene. The family run hostel was a treat and we spent the next ...

... take some pictures before it starts become standard issue around each corner.

From there to the city of Bern and across lower mountain passes to Interlaken. I had no idea where I would end up; several times I just coded in the next large town and headed in that direction until I got to the town of Brienz. If it had been early in the day the next obstacles would have been a pleasure to meet. The mighty Grimsel and Furka passes. ...
