... this is the source of the Rhone river! The proper starting point for our Rhone river adventure (not that it was mentioned in our guidebook - this guidebook isn't very detailed!) We could see the Rhone glacier above, with a pool below that was an incredible shade of milky blue. It almost looked unnatural! ... was heading to the same hostel up in Gimmelwald so we went together. Been playing drums and singing along to guitar all evening, talking to some fantastic people, in this stunning hostel, clouds strolling past the window. Trying to cram stuff in tomorrow as Icould only book one night here which is a real shame, next hostel is booked in Luzern for 2 nights. Note to self, book hostels for longer! So many American and Canadian people around, like, oh my gosh, I'm starting to talk like them ...

... tea, coffee and hot cocoa at all times in the lounge. We got settled into our room and rested for a bit.

We walked down the street to Hotel Oberland’s restaurant. We ate outside because those were the only seats available…since it was so cold outside. We kept our jackets on and were just fine. We both decided to try the Rosti. Rosti is a Swiss dish of potatoes that are grated up and fried…kind of like our hash browns. ...
