... is as much as I can tell you about the differences. After brekky we were taken on a tour along the Amsterdam canals. There is 100km of canals in Amsterdam. Locks are used to keep out the sea when there are big storms and high tides. The streets and canals were full of rubbish which is a pity for what could otherwise be a very nice city. Those in Venice were much cleaner. Amsterdam has been built in a similar manner to Venice with piles being driven into the bedrock and ...

... recollections for the boys.... Then to our supposedly wonderful hotel...not....spent half an hour finding it thinking it was a 4 star hotel only to find another 3 star hotel...again no air conditioning...much bigger but smelly! 2013 is just not our year!!!! We had a good yelling bash, ended up laughing at our despair and saying that it was all an adventure we would later laugh at...and went to bed ...

A hilarious highlight was our venture through the Red Light District. We were two of only a few young females whom were there but not behind red-lit windows. We stood on one of the canal bridges eating steaming hot "chips" (french fries), watching the googly-eyed males attempt to make their hot bargains of the night.

Other than that, we enjoyed strolling markets and visiting family.

... every time we walked through the front gate, there was very strange smell. Not bad, but not pleasant.
I was feeling a bit homesick our first day in Amsterdam. We did a little bit of walking around in the early afternoon, but I just wasn’t feeling very up to site seeing. We did come across one that was on our list of things to see, so we stopped in. It was the Medieval Torture Museum. Very interesting, but scary and sad at the same time. It still ...

... and streets of double story brown buildings and corner stores. Bit depressing really and not the side of England that I love, the picturesque little villages with houses and pubs full of charm and pretty gardens that match. Makes me realize that my idealized picture is not necessarily the norm here.
After we had dropped the car and caught the bus to the terminal and then checked in.....well I thought I was going to star in an upcoming episode ...
