... a room where Eva Braun could entertain her guests and an eating area where food was trucked up from the village. In 1945 the Allies bombed the **** out of Obersalzburg but somehow missed the Eagles Nest. We walked up to the summit taking many photos as the panoramas were spectacular. Quite the view, at over 6000 feet. The Eagle's Nest was slated to be destroyed in the '50's, along with the remaining Obersalzburg buildings, but it was decided to keep it and give all profits ...

... As I finished my very fluffy but enjoyable Bridget Jones book back in Vienna I was in the market for as new book. As luck would have it I found a store that had a small english section and much to Ryan's annoyance spent an excessive amount of time picking my next fluffy book. Hitler didn't actually like the place much so there wasn't heaps of history but the 360 views were amazing and I did a little exploring in the rocks. Not too cold as I was still in shorts, but very pleasant.

... are kangaroos in Austria (seriously) and a myriad of other topics. As the night wore on shots of this pumpkin oil liquor kept appearing in front of us. Soon the bartender started playing Austrian folk music on the sound system and the boys began standing up and singing along with the music (and the rest of the bar) and providing some dancing of their own. I am sure you had to be there, but it was one of those rare nights when you get to experience the life of the locals. And ...

... for just that – a place for Hitler to entertain visitors and dignitaries. As a matter of fact, he actually visited it only 14 times before he and Eva Braun committed suicide in 1945 in one of the bunkers built under the Reichstag the seat of government in Berlin. Additionally, he had a smaller teahouse further down the mountain that he used daily as a respite from his work.
