At one point on the trip the guide gets his trumpet out, and plays a tune next to the cliffside called the Echowand, and depending on the weather the notes echo one or two times - all very funky ...

Gasthaus Alpina: A gloomy, rainy, cold day, our first since leaving Amsterdam. Just as well as it was going to a funny day of traveling. There are a number of factors: 1. I suggested Berchestgaden because of ' Eagles Nest' and it is supposed to be a picturesque spot. 2. ... made up time by hot-rodding all the way to Berchtesgaden. We had hoped to have extra time there to explore the little town before our tour, but that was not to be. So, we grabbed a lunch and waited for 1:00.

In 2011, we took this tour and LOVED it, so we booked it again. What is the Eagle’s Nest? Where is it? What is the significance? Here’s a brief history and geography lesson (bear with us).
