For the last run of the day, I went all the way to the top of the mountain. The wind was terrifying, the visibility was nil or less, I couldn’t even tell which was down on account of the gravity not seeming to be working as usual. ... first to enter the bunkers as evidenced by the insignia on the wall (sorry Band of Brothers). It was a fascinating walk through history.

The last stop of the day was to drive the narrowest road in all of Austria up to Eagle's Nest on one of the special buses that journeys up to the top of the mountain. ... for just that – a place for Hitler to entertain visitors and dignitaries. As a matter of fact, he actually visited it only 14 times before he and Eva Braun committed suicide in 1945 in one of the bunkers built under the Reichstag the seat of government in Berlin.
