Historical Traveler Reviews of Hotel Delta Palma

Kurzfristiger Urlaub

from supergrannyfran

One of the nicest holidays We've had!

from LPressland
Booked the Delta as a last minute all inclusive deal and couldn't have been more impressed! We paid £380 each for a week (including flights) through Fleetway Travel, which I felt was a good deal for the time of year (we later found out that booking the hotel direct would have cost over £1000 for the hotel alone).

The staff at the hotel were friendly and efficient, the hotel very clean and well kept with a good range of facilities.

2 swimming pools at the hotel, but to be honest we went to their private beach club instead - a pool overlooking fantastic coastline where our all inclusive package ment free drinks and lunch with the option of swimming in the sea if you wanted. Good walking along the rocky coastline if you like that kind of thing.

Surprised that there weren't many children or other English guests at the hotel - it appeared the place appealed more to couples from all over Europe.

The courtesy bus took us to and from the beach club each day, and into the local resort of L'Arenal in the evening, which I thought was a really nice touch. The female bus driver was the most miserable person I've every encountered - so much so that it was actually funny!

There was a regular bus stop outside the hotel that could take you into Palma (about 40 mins away) and buses/trains from there connected all over the island, so we had some lovely days out because of the convenience.

Food was fresh and there was a good variety at all meals, and the fact that most branded drinks were included in our package was nice.

Would definitely go again and recommend to others.

Wonderful time had by all

we have just returned from spending a week long break in the Delta hotel in Majorca. Our party was made up of an 8, 16, 20, 43, 50, 69, 71 and 74 year olds... and everyone had a great time. The hotel was very classy and extremely well maintained through out. The rooms were air conditioned, spacious and nicely decorated, with daily thorough cleaning and changing of towels, even the teenagers rooms stayed in good shape!!

We luckily had chosen to go fully inclusive .. the meals offered a good range to suit everyone - with a friendly grill chef working hard at each meal preparing fresh meat or fish to order in the buffet restaurant. The only problem if looking for one... was that the chips were not as hot as some would have liked... this was probably because there was so much choice that the chips were the last to be taken....

The Argos restaurant has to be booked in advance... we had to wait 3 nights to get a table, this was within a walled garden area, the food was within the AI range if taken from a reduced menu or at 50% off the a la carte menu prices. Well worth the wait.

There was a good range of drinks and wines available within the AI range.. others at an excess charge.

The pool areas and beautiful extensive garden areas were well maintained, there were always sun beds available and lots of shade for those wishing to take a break from the sun. Due to the number of steps within the hotel grounds some areas may not be easily accessed by the less mobile guests.

Families with children were well catered for at the beach club (accessible by courtesy minibus) where organised games and a children's pool area available. External to the beach club is a steep descent to a rocky cove, where the sea was excellent for swimming and snorkelling.. with lots of sea life waiting to be discovered.

As the hotel is in a quiet area the nIght life was limited to the hotel entertainment... ranging from amateur sketches to professional dancing... each had its own merits ... but not really catering for party animals!!

The staff were very friendly at all of the bars (consumer tested) and each of the restaurants (also consumer tested).. all in all a fantastic holiday, really relaxing wish we'd went for two weeks... back again soon..

Great hotel - but really not impressed with the food

from nonchavbrit
Firstly this hotel should not be overlooked just because of the food situation. If you are looking for a relaxing getaway in a gorgeous location at a fantastic price then this hotel is for you.

We booked our holiday at the last minute and not knowing much about Majorca or the area around the Delta hotel we just hoped it would be a pleasant stay.

The Delta hotel is situated in a quiet residential area called Maioris, they are building some very nice villas near the hotel and you will see the cranes as you approach the road to the Delta but dont worry as you will not see or hear them once in the extensive grounds (which are mostly beautiful mature gardens, swimming pools, or tennis courts). We saved a bundle by not choosing transfers from our travel agent as the taxi from the airport cost only 25 euros and took about 20mins.

There is only one row of shops (Maioris commercial centre) 5mins away from the hotel which has a super market at the furthest end and afew restaurants/bars (If your a meat eater then try 'Captain Cooks' they are a bit slow with their service but two good size meals with drinks cost us 22 euros - not much else on the menu for veggies) and a bank.

If your looking for somewhere to soak up the sun the hotel pool areas are very nice and not at all overcrowded, the gardens are huge and you can easily find a nice spot, there are afew slides for kids and a mini golf course.

The hotel runs a free bus every half hour there and back to their 'Beach Club'. Dont expect a beach though, they basically have a bar/restaurant with a lovely pool overlooking a superb view of the Med ,there is no beach as this area has cliffs leading down to the sea. The beach club is slightly elevated over a small rocky bay which its great for swimming and snorkeling with crystal clear warm waters. Most guests (English are a minority amongst the Germans and Spanish) stay at the beach club which has plenty of sun beds and as we found with this area of the Island its so beautiful you could spend every day there.

If you want the beach then S'Arenal is a 10 minute drive but to be honest its so built up and crowded it did not appeal to us.

The rooms are a bit dated but very clean and the air conditioning worked really well and did not keep us awake at night.

Staff were mainly good with a few acceptions, this hotel is aimed more at the Germans and Spanish so some of the staff can not communicate that well how ever most were polite.

Ok its not all good though-The food. As I said its not really aimed at the English and the choice is pretty dire.

Breakfasts, lots of cold meats, some fruit, sometimes some croissants, toasts and you can get a fried egg and sometimes something that tastes simular to bacon.

Lunches, we only stayed on a half board basis, they had a basic menu at the beach club but food was not good value or quality.

Dinner, only available between 7.30pm and 10pm which is sometimes inconvenient. The choice is so poor and is nothing compared to any other hotel we have stayed at. We eat out when we could but when in the hotel we struggled to find anything to look forward to eating.

The deserts were quite good though but and I might be fussy here- the ice cream (3 flavours) was always melted in to a mush every night because they couldnt be bothered to keep it chilled, sounds petty but when you have a holiday you look forward to food and as there was nothing great for our main meals it would have been nice to have something you enjoy.

The facilities on offer are very good if you like keeping fit. There are tennis courts with lessons if required and you can hire some bikes for 12 euros a day (which is a really great way of exploring the Island as they have cycle routes mapped out with signs and the roads are fairly quiet).

There is a gym which is well equipped with weights, benches and running machine.

The entertainment during the day was non existant and the evening line up was pretty poor (it had a comical element to us as it was so cheesy and really old school) but it proved fairly popular with some of the older guests.

All in all it was a fantastic holiday the Island itself made it so good and the hotel was a comfortable base. If you have not been to Majorca before like us ,dont just stay at the hotel the Island has so much to offer highlights for us were, Palma city with its great buildings and shops, the Aqua park (buy your tickets from the hotel reception and get a free bus there), and a gorgeous secluded bay with sandy beach called Cala Pi which we found on a bike ride about 20km east of the hotel.

We probably would not stay again at this hotel even though we had a good time but will definatley return to Majorca might hire one of those new villas in Maioris.

Would reconmend it to anyone wanting a good value break, for couples and families.

Classy Hotel, but 2 star food

from Bennysbest
Hotel Delta, Cabo Blanca.Booked a weeks break 6th to 13th March 2007 all inclusive. Having stayed in Majorca in March before we knew it would be quiet.

Hotel was about half full, but only on one night was there any entertainment.

the hotel itself is quite classy, rooms always clean and towels changed daily, also carpeted.

Plenty of choice, from named brands in the bar all inclusive, could be quite expensive if having to pay.The older head barman must be a mute as he never spoke a word to me all week, probably does not like A/I guests, or non-Germans.

The biggest complaint though is the lack of choice in the restaurant, and many times what was there, was only cool, not hot.Choice of 2 soups, but the same 2 three days running, thats 6 meals.Surprisingly we had a choice of 9 different wines excellent ! had much better food in 3*hotels.

Overall hotel 7/10. rooms 7/10 drinks 9/10 restaurant 5/10

Would not return.

Beware the steps from Indoor pool to changing room

from Jon1940
The hotel is well located and well appointed. However, the marble steps from the indoor swimming pool to the changing room are very slippery. I slipped and incurred a gash to my right forearm. The hotel does not keep an accident record book!

Melted in the Delta

from sonveri
Just back from a 7 night stay half board at the Delta Hotel. Lovely Hotel situated approx 6km from Arenal in Mallorca. The Hotel is surrounded by pine trees which made me think it would be really quiet however there is a main road running past the back of the hotel so some rooms are subject to traffic noise. the hotel itself is well decorated the rooms are clean, spacious, carpeted and comfortable. we stayed half borad and it was easy to interchange dinner for lunch if required. the buffet had a wide range of fresh food and most of the staff were pleasant. beside the hotel is a commerical centre with a supermarket and some restaurants however they are somewhat more expensive then those found in arenal. a taxi into arenal cost €10.50 and from the airport was €24. there is also a courtesy bus into arenal at night which you can book at reception. this bus during the day brings hotel guests to the beach club at regular intervals.

my only complaint about this hotel is that they turn off the air conditioning to the rooms whenever meals are on so they can cool the dining areas. a bit annoying if your not full board and relaxing in your room in the heat. couldn't imagine staying here in july and august with this air conditioning policy.

overall it was a pleasant stay

Nice hotel!!!

from Dudeanddudess
Very nice hotel, located outside from Playa d palma but ideal if you want to just chill out! They have three different pools and a beach club which is pretty good, but you have to take their mini busor walk about 1,2 km (down a hill). The food was pretty good good variete, we had All Inclusive (highly recomended) Smirnoff......beer...bottled wine !!! The staff were sometimes friendly but some times very rude especially "the old barmen".

But all in all I would recomend this hotel!!

Nice hotel, but Plese Don't Disturb!!!

from FromFrankfurt
Stayed here for one night in September 2004. It is a club offering a lot of sports etc., but as I just needed a place to sleep, I didn't use the club facilities and cannot comment on them.

The hotel is located in a relatively new settlement in the middle of nowhere consisting of a few hotels and summer residences. It is probably difficult to find without a car navigation system. The distance to the "beach" is about 1-2km; since I had a car, this was not a problem. There is an unguarded parking lot which probably belongs to the hotel, parking is free.

Apart from the hotel grounds, the hotel owns a "beach club". It is located near the beach and consists of a pool, a bar and maybe other facilities as well. The "beach" itself (actually just a ladder leading into water) does not belong to the hotel. Given the remote location, it is very uncrowded. It doesn't look very nice from the outside, but the water is exceptionally clear, and it is great for snorkeling.

The room was spacious, modern and clean. All rooms have a balcony. I had a half board (buffet dinner and a buffet breakfast the next day), both were very good. Drinks for dinner are not included in half board. One annoying thing is that you can't have coffee or any other hot drinks in the buffet area; you have to leave it and head for the bar, where you no longer have access to all the cakes on the buffet.

The hotel offered an Internet PC for a fee, but it could not be used late in the evening.

In the morning, I was woken up around 7:00 by a hotel employee entering my room, despite the "do not disturb" sign posted outside. He quickly went to the minibar, opened it, looked inside and probably was just checking the minibar consumption. At this point, I complained loudly about him ignoring the "do not disturb" sign; he left the room immediately. As it turned out later, he also turned the sign to show "Please make up the room".

While no harm was done, I did not like this experience at all and will not stay at this property again.

Great view
