Got to Rome just after 9am and then 10am train to Pisa.
Lockers at Pisa station are out of order so lugged my backpack to the leaning tower, took some photos and now slowly making my way back to the station stopping for coffee, food and beer along the way.

Forgot that northern Italy food options were ...

... purse. I still don’t regret it at all. After I found my purse, Katy found one she liked as well, so we both left with new purses. We went to grab a bite to eat at a little restaurant right down the street from our hostel, then went to pick up Steve. That night, we basically just chilled out, got settled, and caught up with stories from Rome and Poland (where Steve had been).

The second day Ali and Kelsa were coming in the late ...

Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving!

I spent the morning taking an Italian exam!!! The afternoon was a little more fun, touring Palazzo Pitti with my Art History class.

It was a little strange spending it without everyone but my school put together a little gathering for us. A group of us dined on a typical American Thanksgiving at a local restaurant. We were served Butternut Squash soup with bread, Turkey ...

... food in Italy so far! Amazing!
Finished off with a gelati from Vivoli.

Walked up to Michaelangelo Square for awesome views right across Florence which is a pretty flat city and then over to Ponte Vechio.

Wednesday checked out Academia, the highlight of which was Michaelangelo's David which is a lot more amazing and stunning in real life than pictures or the copies littered about the city.
There was also a Robert ...

Cooking Class

Hi Everyone!

After an exhausting weekend in Brussels, I was in for yet another treat with cooking classes in Florence. Organized by my school, a group of us met with a chef for some lessons.

We were taught how to prepare typical Tuscan cuisine including Ribollita and Stuffed zucchini-flowers.

Everything was delicious & I look forward to trying these recipes at home!

I'll update you soon,

... gave her the one that I had caught and in return she gave me the biggest smile and "grazie".
We ate some lunch and hiked through to the last town, Monterosso. This was the hardest leg of the hike, and let me tell you, it was extremely difficult. The girls had done a good job keeping up with the boys up to this point, bellies full, and the effects of the past four villages had caught up with us and we couldn't keep up with them for any longer. They went ...

... be as I am." This was to say you will die and the only way to salvation is through Christ. It was a very cool experience. Jerry doesn't get out of class until 4:30 so the rest of us wait for him and we normally go get something to eat. Saverio told us about a little stand that sells lampredotto panini, so we went and tried them they were very good but it was a little to salty for me. For all of you asking what lampredotto is it is veal stomach that is stewed ...

... team, which was Milan, had their own little section in which they lit a florence jersey on fire!!! Nuts, just nuts they are! Unfortunately Florence lost 0-1, but it was still really fun. This week I'm looking forward to my birthday which I'm going to go out to a really cool restaurant with a bunch of CAPA friends and then maybe to a bar with some live music! I hope everyone has a great week and let me know when you're going to come and visit me ;) (wink)

Florence

From one beautiful city to another, we drove into Florence totally unaware of where our campsite was but conveniently drove past Piazza le Michelangelo where we stopped to take in our first view of Florence under the watchful "eye" of the Statue of David. We eventually found road signs directing us to Fiesole, where our campsite was, which turned out to be 7km out of Florence on a large hill overlooking the whole city. After setting up our tent on one of the ...

... window to look out and even lean against, but it's always difficult to get in/out with two others in the row. Since I'll be arriving in Florence a few hours later, thereby reducing the amount of time to sightsee today, I might head to Arezzo on Saturday and skip Greve and Montefioralle. In reading my new AAA spiral book on Florence, there is much to see despite what my cousin Reenie and I saw two years ago. I arrived in Florence about 11:30am. The ...
