Longest Train Ride Ever

... He had been camping with his brother in Spain and was now returning to Lyon where he lived.  This time I did not look out the window the whole ride to Lyon because I was interested in practicing my french and talking with this guy.  We talked about music and life all the way to Lyon and when he got off we exchanged info.
Now I sat back and relaxed because I had another five hours to go on the train til Geneve. As we went rambling down the track, I ...

Lovely Lake Como

... from the point there though which was cool.
Ferry back from Belaggio to Como was a lot quicker (and more expensive) and had some great views of the various places around the lake.

Back in Milan that night discovered the happy hour buffets that I'd read about - 6 Euro for a drink and all you can eat.

Buffet is nothing special, but ...

Milan - excellent seafood paella... not much else

... a cool little wine bar/tobacco shop/lottery agent to have an aperitif and got to hear the waitress singing along to the radio in broken English with lots of made up words.
Had an AMAZING seafood paella at Osteria del Lazzaretto as well as the biggest piece of bruschetta I've had in my life! They also had half a litre of house wine for 4 Euro! Score!

Milan Day One/Two: Not at Fault for Lostness

... back to the boys' place and got our stuff and headed off for Cassy's, which was a bit of a train-ride. Apparently most people who work in Milan don't live there; they travel from the neighbouring cities just like Cassy does. The majority of the population of the city is made up of students living in incredibly old run down buildings, and sort of passive dwellers such as Cassy who will occasionally stay the night when the ...

... get it and you have to book in advance (Just call them)

Strong reco ... it you are in Milan plan to watch a football match. Otherwise headout to a lake nearby in Alps and stay there for the night.

If none of this is possible, than please go to Milan before you head anywhere else in italy. It will make the trip better and more worthwhile.

Milan in a day

... Riva Reno. They had an unusual selection of flavours, and had a little seating area so we decided to rest up and munch on gelato! We walked back to the Duomo area, passing by some interesting neighbourhoods, canals and little shopping areas. There is something about the buildings in Italy that seems so unique (at least in the places we've visited). They seem tired and worn but it's just ...

Decisions in Milan

... quite tame though- I mean I pay a bit more attention walking home at night and fight off sleazy guys and lecherous old men a bit more often- but all in all quite tame. Except for the abundance of prostitutes on the street, I usually pass close to 10 just walking from the metro stop- which is at most a quarter mile to my hostel. And, these girls are determined out there in their skimpy clothes, umbrellas, and tall boots, all night ...

I make it to Florence and Markus is waiting for me at the train station. It was good to see him and the jokes w**e starting to fly out of my mouth again. I have been v**y cons**vative for the last 5 days. It was time to let some of my split p**sonality out of the bag. Welcome back J**ith! I don't really have a ...

Where's my wallet?

... my wallet?" I give him "the look" like you've got to be kidding, he lost his wallet, keys, blah, blah, blah 12 times a day it seemed. So, I said, "You know what? You shouldn't be allowed to have a wallet" and at that very moment karma bit me in the ass. I looked in my purse and said, "Where's my wallet?" He of course found his seconds later in a pocket and mine, mine had just gone on to the next Italian city. After running back ...
