Last night I went to the Hotel del Mar in Vina del Mar. The Hotel del Mar is a famous casino in Chile. My roommate Lauren and I got dressed up and went there to try our hand at Blackjack. I was under the impression that the minimum bet was 3,000 pesos ($6), which was already a bit more than I'd like to be risking. To our dismay, the minimum goes up at night, and even more on the weekends. So on a Saturday night, it is 7,000 pesos ($14). I had only 6,000 on me at the time and had to borrow 1,0...

... tomorrow morning. Oscar is bringing Antonia to the house today. Maybe she'll play the Wii with me once! (She's so hyper but cute and shy towards me!) Margarita and Oscar say she's very spoiled whenever she comes because they always wanted a girl and could never have one. Pablo and Oscar say that Margarita is very excited to finally have a girl in the house with her! Someone that likes shopping and girly things instead of only talking about ...
Vina del Mar, Chile etroesch... the town a little more. We capped off the evening with a local dish, called Churrillana, which may be better called Poutine Chileno -- a mixture of french fries, steak, sausage and egg, that was surprisingly delicious. Tomorrow it´s off to somewhere else, but we´re not sure where yet... (Angie is hoping to get photos uploaded with these blogs, but forgot her camera cord so needs to figure out how to do it...)
Valparaiso, Chile nathangie... the hotel at 9 PM. And I'd been texting Diane all day, checking on what was happening with the fireworks later, and giving her updates on my escapades today. And by the way, texting is way more complicated on an international phone like this. For example, there are about 10 different "A"s available with almost every type of accent you could imagine, so if you miss the "A" that you need, you'll be pushing that button many more times to get it back ...
Valparaiso, Chile pwong... make her pasta for that. Somehow back in the hostel, Ute ended up making the pasta and I did the dishes. We had a bottle of wine and some beers later and spent the rest of the night chatting on the balcony. 24/10/2008 (FRI) I woke up ...
Valparaiso, Chile nsp003... the Pacific Ocean, Valparaíso boasts a labyrinth of streets and cobblestone alleyways. A jumble of multi-colored clapboard homes and weathered Victorian mansions that cling to sheer cliffs. The city has 45 hills. Given the lack of towering high rises on the hillsides, the city is frequently described as "stadium seating" - providing breathtaking views no matter where you are. Valparaíso's unusual system of 100-year-old funicular ...
Valparaíso, Chile ninaholidays... dancing, some cute little balarinas, some bigger and cuter in a different way dancers and a dance troupe with a heavily pregnant lead dancer who was not able or, to be fair, slightly disposed to hide the bulge. Good on her I say, though couldnt help notice that camera activity increased exponentially during her appearance. Yes me included. I'm ...
