Assisi Off to the Basilica of St Francis for mass in English. We get there early and have time to go and ask for a Mass to be said for the Quirk Family. Mass is downstairs under the Basilica and we are there ten minutes before 9 so we get a seat. Nuns abound in the congregation, we get two in our seat. The organ starts on cue just before mass is due to begin, the stage is set for a beautiful experience. The ceiling is cross vaulted, decorated ...

... and watched as many of the town's Uni Students graduated, with their ivy coronets and bouquets of red roses, plus lots of popping corks and cheers from Nonna and Pops all over. As we sauntered down towards the bus back to Spello, we still find ourselves amazed at the shops and the food they present. We went inside a tiny little 'deli' looking shop, decorated in early 'boar' (big in Umbria, boars are). The owner insisted we try a little 'aged boar' - a delicacy she says. Looks ...

... two Americans came in, just for dessert and Sambuca!
We started chatting and found out they are from South Dakota and were also holidaying in Panicale.

They both are keen golfers. In fact, her job is organiser billets for visiting golfers, mostly from Australia. Next February they are visiting Australia for the first time and although they can't remember the name of the town they are staying....they said about 90 miles north ...
