... to note that no one in Holland appears to take VISA cards. In fact
credit cards are not much use here. Apparently the people are almost boycotting
credit cards as a way of protesting the high charges attached to credit card
transactions. These charges are around 5.5% which is very comparable to our
charges in South Africa. The difference here is that the people are prepared to

Our field was absolutely deserted so we let Prego have a good run around. ...

Walked into town and had my haircut. A great feeling to have it cut after so long. Then to the bakery to say hi to Eva. We went for a walk in the afternoon to the Makkum beach and a quiet beer. Then a nice evening and dinner in a very old restaurant by the canal. It's great to live so close to walk to the shops restaurants beach harbour in a town with plenty interesting of ...

... we could go inside. We climbed up to the top of it and got to see the inner workings of the windmill. It was really interesting. Jacquelien had been there before, but she was a good sport and came with me.

We got to Alkmaar and met Jacqueline's brother, Bart, for lunch. He is the youngest of the family, and was just as nice as all the others I have met. The whole family is incredibly friendly. I couldn't have ...
