      Germany for one

... Eastern Germany. The guide used to come to Travemunde (where our ship was docked) to play at the very popular beach along the river. It was clearly a beach resort with a boardwalk and kiosks and playgrounds. But just across the river was East Germany and the beach contained only a fence with guard towers. Today the guard towers are gone and in their place is a park, a marina, and a hotel. While still somewhat undeveloped, it is a much more pleasant view!

It has rained quite a bit here lately, but as long as you have an umbrella you are good! Or of course a rain coat with a good hood!

The rest of the school week was easy- I am done at 11:30 am on Thursday and off on Fridays! With my extra free time, I ...

Saturday (yesterday) was a pretty laid back. The most interesting part of the day was going into a small store and the sales clerk came up to me and starting talking to me. I responded to her "Nein, Danke" as I have found that is normally an appropriate response when people are asking you questions. She continued to explain herself, and I told her I didn't ...

I thought we would just be kicking back and visiting while at the Summer House, but not so. We had a wonderful evening meal under the chestnut tree, and Al's other cousin Arthur arrived for dinner as well so it seems like such a celebration. We set out little candles and lingered over the meal. I am amazed at what Gisele can do with that little oven. Today the plan is to drive north to go to the seaside and ...
