... to coastal suburbs. Public Transportation is pretty good in the city, but a Dublin car hire is your ticket to enjoying the incredible sea coast. The best places to visit in Dublin include the famous Dublin Castle, the Custom House, and the National Museum of Ireland. Come to these places and enjoy the rich history of this city and country. Dublin is a historically wealthy place and it is obviously apparent in the ...
Riga, Riga, Latvia victor.bacon... charge a ridiculous amount of money, and if they dont pay, the Latvian men will beat the person up. I was thinking... hmmm.... I wonder if this goes both ways!??? Anyway, turns out he was just a little drunk. lol I met all his friends and he was quite attractive and nice, but wayyyyyy too forward and I got wayyyyyyy uncomfortable! To be honest, I would have loved a fun night of nice company and conversation. But if Ive learned anything, its if you ...
Riga, Latvia sheryl.akagi... people so he had contacts all around the world and didn't have to use couch surfing websites. He hadn't studied history, only read books and had lived in Riga his whole life. A walking talking local representation of the city which he said he loves and misses when he's away. If I went on about the whole speil he gave you'd be here all day. Bacially the locals are proud of their little country and have been through a lot to keep it from the nasty Russians and Germans. Nowadays the ...
Riga, Latvia gypsyfeet... rest of the pack, it too was rebuilt and enlarged several times throughout the past, probably for every time it was damaged or destroyed. Last face-lift it underwent was in 1984, the year of the most recent restoration completion. Now there is an elevator built in the tower, which takes you up for the city panorama. But I didn't go up. Instead, I moved on to its lesser down-the-street neighbour, the St.John's church, or Sv Jāņa baznīca for the locals. Another ...
Riga, Latvia the_wayfarer... very interesting - and very sad. It covered basically the same occupations we saw in Estonia - USSR in 1940, then Germany 1941-44, then USSR 1944-1991. Our guidebook recommended allowing 2 hours for the museum - and we took almost exactly that. (By the end our feet were sore again! They're really not getting time to recover.) Latvia started having problems prior to WW2 - they had a right-wing authoritarian PM who made himself president & wanted to abandon any elections ...
Riga, Latvia austega... coming here and getting beaten up but well they might have deserved it. Really lovely architecture, quite a ...
Riga, Latvia dianenew123... Ethnographic Open-Air Museum, much to Rosa's disgust. She had learnt that anything with the word "museum" in it will invariably not involve: a. trampolines, b. Barbies or c. Ice-cream. Have to admit it did have the most boring name ever for a museum. It was a bit like calling Sovereign Hill the "Victorian Open-Air Museum for the Period of Gold Boom in Ballart and Surrounding Areas". Actually, the museum was very similar to Sovereign Hill ...
Riga, Latvia red_gamerYrituse algus oli paljulubav - Tulika lasi ennast 20 minutit oodata ja notari nina ytles, et taksojuht on jaaknahtudega... Bussisoit on teadagi parim aeg magamiseks. Riiga saabudes tervitas meid vihmasadu. Sattisime ennast juba bussist tuttavate tegelaste sappa, kes olid kahtlaselt seda nägu nagu tuleks nad sama ...
Riia, Latvia nipitiri... pleasure money could buy, along with a full range of complimentary services, including - our favorite, we must admit - a chauffeured "erotic minivan." Some combinations are so ludicrously incongruent as to be nothing but laughable. So the grooms to be of Europe marched by, dressed up in tutus and superwoman costumes, off to break their marital vows before they pledged them. But we were content to simply sit and watch and ponder. Riga was great for that.
Riga, Latvia stevecori... the sun before James arrived (also HC member). He tried to manage something for me but finally I finished at an hostel on Elisabetes iela since the backpacker inn was full for the night. I didnt do much until I met Karl and learned about the London Bombing... That was rather a shock and plenty of us were standing at the TV of the hostel looking for news while others were mostly critics about it. Karl was a funny Liverpool accent guy obviously always tipsy guy who manage ...
