Hallo zusammen,

Bitola, Macedonia schwateHallo zusammen,

Gruss
Ralf
Ohrid, Macedonia schwateHallo zusammen,

Ohrid, Macedonia schwate... the cobblestone roads to the fortress are great. The pace is slow and relaxing. There is a great path that winds in and out of the beaches on its way to a great old church. The old man giving us a tour is delighted that we are so interested and offers us Raiki (a local brandy).

After some rain, a beautiful rainbow appears.
Ohrid, Ohrid, Macedonia will.traveller... br>
The main attractions include some beautiful 18th and 19th century baroque architecture buildings, a noteable Catholic Church, several impressive mosques, and a clock tower and fountains in the main square. There is also an old Turkish-style bazaar through which we wandered and ended up chatting with a Macedonian family who are now living in the US (visiting Bitola on vacation). Strangely enough, they currently live in ...
Bitola, Macedonia jdelmaire... and a few shocking eyesores) along ulica Marsal Tito, peeking into the local mosques and winding through the small streets of the bazaar. My lunch of pizza and a shopska salad was quite tasty, and the weather, if pretty toasty still, was clear and pretty close to ideal for sightseeing. There was even a new local tourist office with friendly staff handing out free town maps that let me use their toilet sans charge (a rarity in this part of Europe . . . or wait ...
Bitola, Macedonia xerius... and the odd ruined bunker with rusty rebar poking out. A black limosine was parked in someone's driveway. It had New Jersey plates. After about five kilometes of walking, a fellow driving by offered us a ride to the bus stop for four Euros. Since we realised that we didn't know exactly where the stop was, and that it was also pretty hot out, we accepted his offer and hopped in. He took us to a stop and presently a minibus came along. We hopped in and were driven to Tirana.
Sveti Naum / Albania Border, Macedonia fatduck... immaculately, but he also knew that a single woman having a baby was not an acceptable thing. So, he being a widow married her and kept her as his own child. But he had no "relations" with her. He died soon after Jesus was born. That's why he hardly figures in the Bible: Mary had the baby Jesus but was never touched by a man in that reproductive way. Those who were known as Jesus' siblings were Joseph's children but not Mary's. The painting sequence ends with Mary's death and ...
Ohrid, Macedonia fatduck... plays tour guide, cook, entertainer, etc. to all of them. It isn't quite the life of a monk that he expected. But he says that at least all those who arrive are guests worthy of his attention, because in order to get to the top, one must be chosen. It is really a rough climb, but I'm not saying that just because I did it. The monk is glad that there is no good road up to the top, otherwise he would never have any time to be a monk. This phenomenon caused by the success ...
