We stood there and ponder for 20 minutes or so and ask all the people who passed by if they had a cell phone. No one said they did. It's about 9:30 at this point. We decided we'd ...

... 50 minute ride to Bruges. Again, lots of lovely houses out int the country side but before that lots of flats all crammed in together with an awful lot of graffiti covering everything. That bit was a bit sad really.

Anyway, I much prefer this place to France!

Driving into Veurne was very picturesque and the town square ...

... very touristy, and many photos were taken of the beautiful buildings. A group of us went for dinner in La Taverne, which was very pleasant, and then the whole band regrouped at the hostel to do a pub quiz organised by our social sec. (Our group sadly came last...!) Overall it was a very long day but a nice introduction to tour!

We began our morning with a continental breakfast in the hostel - which was very tasty! - and then we went with the whole band to ...

... was more to our taste.

We arrived back at the hotel safely, and turned in our bikes. Those of you who have worried about us can start to relax. We went for dinner to a steak restaurant, Sint Joris, on the Markt, where we were served beef from the owner’s own herd of Belgian Blue cattle. (We have learned that the Big Butt Cattle we’ve been seeing are probably Belgian Blue.) Very ...
