... hotel. Our hotel is in the centre of the old city and there’s nowhere to park nearby. After wasting 2 Euros for spending a few minutes in the wrong lot, we eventually figured it out, got on the right bus, and managed to find our hotel, dragging our suitcases over cobblestones for several blocks in the process. Not much fun, but all part of the experience!

... preserved medieval town from the 1300's (Steve's description). When we arrived there were tons of people here because a cruse ship was leaving from here. It settled down later in the day. We could not check into our hotel right away so we dropped off our luggage and headed to a bar we heard about in the Sentinel for lunch. They were closed but the manager happened to walk out while we were ...

Even the houses look nicer with much fancier roofs in quite a dutch style. I keep having to remind myself that I'm in Belgium and not Holland as I'm bound to put my foot in it. Anyway, I much prefer this place to France!

... one, but they will love you, I promise.

Brugge looks like a fairy tale come to life. Canals intersect the city by bridges, with cobblestone roads weaving in and out of brown and glistening gold buildings, chocolate shops and throngs of tourists. When you arrive at the train station, it looks just like any other place around a train station- boring, but the second you walk into the walled city, everything turns magical.

The 14 Euro meal was ok. Nice starter of pate, Kate has mussels. Main was Rabbit for Kate and Beef Stew for me. 'Dessert of the Day' was a scoop of ice cream with a wafer. We weren't all that hungry and for dessert that all I could probably manage anyhow. We both drank from ma-husive Hoogarden jars and enjoyed the beer - very nice. The surprise came when getting the bill. We calculated that it should be 41 Euro plus whatever else they charged us for Kates ...
