... of French soldiers were present tonight and played a minor role during the service. Each night has been different but very moving on every occasion. I am pleased we left our warm room to attend this service each of the three nights we have been in Ieper. Ate at a cafe across the square from Old Tom. The exodus was surprisingly quick, but I'd made the mistake of waiting to eat until after the ceremony and everywhere was busy. The kids weren't there... they were in all the chocolate shops. I went to Poppy's again for some pizza and then hit the sack. Tomorrow was going to be an early day.
