    ... as a snack, which bring back memories, lovely. The rain stopped so we carried on our quest to find a new drinking water carrier with a tap as we do not drink the water from the tank on board and it saves us buying lots of bottled water. Our old one’s tap wore out and fell apart. Again we had another downpour and this time we had a German beer called Brand which is also lovely. The weather was living up to its forecast.     ... It was exactly as expected: a seaside resort hotel. A nice room and we will see what dinner brings.

    ... cultural Renaissance after being heavily damaged during WWIi. We saw a glimpse of the Train Station with it's Art Nouveau/industrial architecture that blends ample glass with cast iron and stonework. The facade is impeccable. Under all this beauty is a modern transportation hub with at least 24 platforms on 3 levels. Belgium, and Antwerp, seem right at the centre of a European crossroads. ...

    ... You never really know how you are going to feel until it happens. Odd to come to such a realization over a sweater, however, when I finally found one I liked it was so comforting to have....

    After the hot chocolates (which everyone should try in Belgium they are soooo delicious) we went back to the apartment, where Jaey and Djuna made me one last delicious home cooked meal. I really adore both of them so much, and they are both such great cooks!

    Our first weekend in Gent was cut short when our friend Saskia suggested a spur of the moment trip to the beach near Vlissingen, Netherlands. So late Saturday evening the three of us hopped on a train to Antwerp and connected to the cute town of Essen where Saskia lives, which is only 10 minutes from the Netherlands and only an hour from the sunny shore of the North Sea.
