Peaceful rest in the City Center

    from

Perfectly located a quick stroll from the Duomo and main shopping streets of the city, the Hotel de la Ville provides attentive service and perfectly maintained rooms. Each room has extensively sound and lightproofed windows and walls for a great night of rest for jetlagged visitors. Although small, our room was nicely decorated, spotless and at the hall end as I requested. Staff were helpful with arranging reservations and services and this was the only hotel during our month's stay in Italy that could make a good espresso coffee at breakfast (suprising!). Our only disappointment was that the rooftop pool was closed during our stay, but it looked lovely.

    Location Is Best Feature

    from

The hotel is in a great location, very close to the Duomo, restaurants, shopping. Our accommodations were fine--nicely adorned, clean rooms, but of average size. The service and food at the hotel was mediocre at best. Just a little more attention to these areas would make the hotel 'top-notch'.

    Mixed feelings

    from

I just stayed at the Hotel de la Ville and I have mixed feelings about it . The location is perfect and the hotel is beautiful ,charming and very elegant with courteous and professional staff . The room was very charming too with nice linen and italian great furniture . Howver we were disappointed by the very average breakfast with poor choice ,no fruits (!) and bad croissants and bread . Other disappoint for the old unconforatble mattress I slept ; it is amazing that such great hotel does not do a little more to improve breakfast and buy new mattresses .Would I come back ? I do not know .

    Wonderful Hotel

    from

What a gem! Just yards away from the Duomo and central Milan, this hotel makes the trip a pleasure. The rooms are comfortable and well appointed. rates are reasonable. Location fabulous. Taxi drivers know where it is - which is often not the case with other hotels.

The staff was friendly and helpful. They offered to purchase train tickets for us, etc. There is an excellent travel agency steps away, as well as an international bookstore. The bar/lounge area offers free Internet, great coffee and drinks, and English newspapers.

This is a hotel to return to many times.

Luxury and Convenience in one place

    from

We stayed at the Hotel de la Ville on our last few trips to Milan. I have been recommending it ever since. It is clsoe to the Duomo, the Galleria, Rinascente, Il Palazzo Reale and La Scala and several outstanding restaurants. The staff is friendly, courteous and helpful.

The rooms are very attractively appointed - there are even no smoking rooms available. One of our rooms its own terrace which overlooked the top of the Galleria. The bathrooms are very modern with great water pressure-perfect for a long hot shower or bath at the end of a day of sightseeing, shopping or conferences. The restaurant is very good although we only ate there once because there are so many wonderful restaurants in Milan..

    Great location!

    from

We moved from the awful Milan Marriott here and spent 2 wonderful nights at this hotel. The location is great, breakfast is nice, the rooms are beautiful, and the rooftop pool is gorgeous. Definitely stay here!

A superb hotel in a great location

    from

Stayed here, for 3 nights from 28 December, after reading reviews on TripAdvisor. Room brightly decorated and extremely clean - great touch with chocolates left in your room at night. All staff very friendly and nothing was too much trouble - needed assistance with car hire, directions etc. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Milan - a great location, near to the Duomo, La Scala & shopping areas.

    Enjoy.

    Excellent Hotel

    from

Great location right near the Dumo. Beautifully appointed rooms and fabulous service. A great way to see the city.

    Nice hotel and super convenient

    from

We only stayed in Milan for one night, but are very glad we made the choice to stay at the Hotel de la Ville. Rooms are nicely done with clean, spacious bathrooms. Staff was helpful in making restaurant and transportation arrangements. Above all, the location is superb - right between the Duomo and all the great shopping streets. Would definitely stay here again on a future Milan trip.

    Excellent Hotel

    from

This is one of my facourite hotels in Milan because of the central location. All rooms are comfortable with luxurious bathrooms. There is also a roof top pool and a spa, as well as good room services.

... to try and make her dress longer.

WE spent an enjoyable time wandering about the cathedral. Its big, beautiful, cool inside, and has some amazing stained glass windows. There were pews to sit on and pray, and some people were praying on their knees, most people however were using this time as free sit down space in a cool shady place (it was 34 degrees outside). One lady was eating her lunch at the pews, another was breastfeeding a baby.

... arrived from nowhere, and another jug of warmed milk. The Italians do know how to brew a good coffee. Even Connor has been enjoying a brew or two while here in Europe. This morning he decided to have a cappuccino, and later, at morning tea, an iced coffee (which turned out to be less with the ice cream and ice, and more of the 'made with cold water'. Its all an experience!!)

WE decided to drive to Bellagio (if you are looking at the map of Lake Como you will see that ...

... s first restaurant dinner in Italy where we enjoyed some, as always, delicious pasta. The training has been going really well so far. We have swum every day (which is good for me because the swim is my weakest leg), ridden and ran every second day and met the rest of the elite squad who have all been very welcoming. The riding in the area is very flat with some nice sections through towns and fields but we are always forced to turn onto main, busy and boring roads as we ...

... Spencer and the dogs! Spencer would argue that the dogs would take top billing, but that's just not true.

For our last day in Milan, we set out to experience one of the local markets. I had high hopes that perhaps it would be a good place to find some souvenirs, but not really. There was a lot of food (I would be nervous about purchasing the fresh fish on display) and a lot of dollar store type stuff. So, it was good ...
