No wifi at the Gite today, so we are using the Tourist Office and will try to be quick! We have had a just wonderful day!! The book said it was hard, so we were prepared (mentally). Yesterday was moderate. But today was not as far - they said 19 kms, but Amr's iPhone said it was 21.5. But the difficult part was the very steep climb down into a gorge and then the long and endless climb up. But the scenery was worth ...

First day done!! Now we are feeling the rhythm.

There always seems to be a "bagagerie" where you leave bags to be picked up, or where you collect the delivered ones from, and today we all had to take off our walking shoes and leave them in a special shoe cupboard....but I think this is unique for this place..maybe, we'll see. Very interesting as well as spectacular. It was erected in the mid 1800s and made from the cast iron of 213 guns (captured from the Russians) from the battle ...

... on it, but it is so cheap for such special food. (Actually I think ours is ridiculously expensive). After lunch we metro-ed back, retrieved our bags from the hotel and went to catch our train to Le Puy. All good. Little locale trains, had to change at St Étienne and then got a little train that wound up the hillside to Le Puy....was reminiscent of getting the train to St Jean before the Spanish Camino. And there were a few other ...

    Journey home part 1 :(

A travel blog entry by siandlorna on Aug 12, 2015

We were up, packed up and ready to leave by 8.30 this morning!!! No alarm was necessary as the dutchy caravan and family behind us decided to start packing up and left by 7.30!! We knew we had a bit of a trek today- Simon had planned it so we did a big drive and broke the back of the 13 hour drive back to Cov. The six and a bit hour drive to Nonette was the best we've done yet, the weather was good and ...
