Amongst this group was Chris Froome (in the yellow Jersey) who is the tour leader. Again, the riders were followed by numerous team support vehicles, medical vehicles, police and TV reporters.

... we've had a few interesting moments. I'm the navigator and Phillip is the driver and he's been doing a great job, particularly when our GPS suggests we take some ridiculous shortcut through a tiny village. Our funniest/stressiest moment occurred en route to a village called Ambialet where there were two tunnels under the mountains. These weren't shown on our map and our trusty GPS definitely didn't tell us they were only wide enough for two small cars to pass each other. We ...
Today we are leaving Mt Ventoux and Mum and Dad surprised us by taking us to GAP to watch the finish of the Tour De France Stage 16.
We drove past the "Devil" on our way into town but had to keep going as they were about to close the road.
We were right on the finish line, under the big screen. It was so hot.

... the way to Gap we saw the devil but didn't have time to stop and get a photo. The Devil's real name is Didi Senft. He is well known and always wears a Devils outfit and runs along side the riders with his trident. He goes to the Tour de France and the Giro in Italy. He is so famous he is in WIkipedia. He is also known as El Diablo which means Devil. He paints his trident on the road a few miles before he appears.

It didn't take us long to go back and eventually we found the back with everything in, but going back to the idyllic place took us forever.
