... back to the hotel and getting warm. My bed was my saviour, under the warm doona - I warmed up quickly once out of my wet jeans and socks. We also found that the backpack wasn't waterproof, and our spare change of clothes were wet anyway so these needed hanging up to dry. We ventured out a little later for a quick bite at a local food place. No local dishes tonight - just something quick and easy. By the time we got home I felt the start of a sore throat and dove for the betadine throat ...

The sight kept changing as clouds rolled in and out and the sun shone on different parts of the mountain side and then you’d come to the crest of a hill and have a view down in to the valley below of which parts of it were still green as it was much lower. I should also mention, it has been raining all day, but it was keeping me cool in the walk so it wasn't a problem until I needed to travel with all my stuff to the next place - Gimmelwald. Turned ...

Our bottomless pit of fondue comes and I am once again delighting in the fact that Swiss cuisine was apparently custom made for my taste buds. As the pot begins to get low, I hear a couple more voices start singing (it's happening!) Eventually, as the chef is making the rounds asking everyone if they ...

... was calm. After buying our $6 coke, we started walking down the wide path in the snow, following others, just to get away from the crowds by the door. Then we realized this was the path ON the upper part of the Aletsch Glacier and went to a mountain hut that had a small restaurant we'd read about called Monchjochhutte. Since it was so nice, we decided to try it. The path is in slushy snow, it is quite like walking in beach sand (the hard ...
