A quiet day today ,summer in France, warm and lovely..We took the shuttle bus into the town/city ..,and walked at length around the perimeter,things of Napoleon ,a large and majestic statue,this was his territory..and he built some of the fortifications.
This was a strategic Port in many wars...Huge battlements and walls enclose the Port, some very battle scared with bullet holes ...from several wars no ...

... We also explored along the sea wall. We got the shuttle buses both into and out of town. Along one of the roads, there was a lighthouse which was and still is used to guide ships into the harbour. ... Army Rangers scaled the rugged limestone cliffs.

  • We finally made our way to Cherbourg for a quick visit atop the Fort du Roulette a high promontory overlooking the city and harbor. There appears to be little left of the 'old city' as the town was significantly demolished during the war.

  • We had a wonderful dinner and bottle of St Emilion wine for dinner back near the hotel in Honfleur.

    Arrived at Cherbourg about 12 midday went out had a look around the port the first thing I noticed was the Art Deco terminal looks amazing and once through the terminal took 10 mins To walk into town and had a look around, quite a nice town. Heading to Portugal in the afternoon of the next day docked in Cherbourg due to weather ...
