E failed to get any lunch as we discovered that 11:11 is a bank holiday in France and everywhere was closed! So we arrived at the hotel at 5:00 pm and were starving! We checked in and the owner kindly provided us with pate and bread and a glass of red....perfect!

We had a wonderful peaceful evening. You know when you are in the Charente, when you turn around and see a tanker chasing you, of ...

... feels more like home, though of course it's much warmer here. I even find a fruit stand on the way, and enjoy some French-grown raspberries and a Spanish-grown peach. Central city here is spacious and green, littered with interesting-looking shops as well as decorative fountains. Though I had envisioned that the hot springs would be formed in natural rock overlooking the valley, that wasn't quite the reality. The pools were man-made tiled affairs, though fed by the ...

... the lift from. We are enjoying France. The weather has been very warm. It was 32 degrees yesterday in Annecy but considerably cooler on the top of the Alps at Aguille de Midi which we visited for a close up view of Mont Blanc. An awesome trip up on the cable car and 40 foot lift through the rock. Noelene and I look appropriately dressed for the experience (except for the shorts and sandals). Noelene found ...
