After a few cups of coffee we rode through beautiful Luxembourg countryside, in a south eastly direction, until we reached the town of Remich which is on the Moselle River. A short ride across the bridge located there saw us in our 4th country in 3 days, Germany.

We then rode through hills and forest on very good roads until we reached the town on Mettlach, located on the Saar River, ...

Our navigation skills weren’t that good so we managed to do a mountain hike in search of the castle, only to find it was down the hill on the edge of the nearby suburb. We couldn’t go into the castle itself but we explored the grounds which were surrounded by acres of vineyards.

We stopped for the night at the stellplatz at Kehl - where we spent our first night after picking up the ...

... to go at all and at the first mention that I could take the tour and he can walk back to the hotel, he quickly agreed. ;-) I was lucky that the next boat was in 15 minutes and I boarded with a big group of German retirees. The boat tour included a guided audio track in various languages. That is how I learned that the place where we had lunch, Petite-France, a very picturesque area with timbered houses and many restaurants, was where people were sent ...
