We've made it to France! We travelled down to Plymouth last night and stayed in a ropey hotel - very Faulty Towers! After checking in we were both a bit worried about the bikes on top of the car so went out to get them in the pouring rain and kept them in our room. On the walk back to the van after dinner, there was a local Celtic band playing in the square in front of the church, where the market had been and there were a group of people dancing - old style folk dancing to this beautiful music. They persist. Fortunately. The last 4kms of the ride involved iced water and a ride along a cycle path that wound its way beside the estuary to the hotel. Great scenery and the iced water was wonderful. 66kms covered today!!! I know some people who don't ...

... These excited both Rose and also Emily, the later shrieking with delight and clapping her hands as she saw them animated. Sometimes feeling like we had walked into a Tim Burton film, it really was a special thing to see, with the installations being quite moving as well as hugely imaginative. Definitely a case of only in France... With our minds full of what we had seen at The Universe Of The Scrap Metal Poet, we left for the cottage and arrived home around ...
