      Walk To All The Attractions

Great location in the heart of Petite France on the Grand Rue. Short walk to the canals, Cathedral, etc. We arrived two hours before check-in but the staff said they'd have our room ready in ten minutes. Staff very friendly and helpful. Our third floor room decor was a strange mix of modern and post French Revolution. Good internet reception in room. No curtains only a thin pull-down shade. When the sun comes up at 6 AM, it's bright! Our room faced the street and a local street crowd on the corner howled at the moon until about 10 PM.

Strasbourg, France may be our favorite city we have visited so far but it was certainly a quest to get here.

Between 8:00 AM and noon we utilized virtually every public mode of transportation available.to get from Heidelberg to Strasbourg.

During that period we took two busses, two commuter trains plus a high speed bullet train …

... this one, opting for a chocolate waffle instead... Which they insisted they didn't have... The chocolate on their face proved otherwise. New waited in line for a good 35mins until we got and and it was really exciting. Up then down and turn turn turn. We were in our seats for less than half. The rest of the time we were pushing up against the bar holding us in. At the end of the ride my face was stinging from the cold air that whipped past. Was really exhilarating! The day was a great day ...

Great Christmas. Started last night with a service at the Truchtersheim church. Catholic service in French. Couldn't understand a thing but the priest was very tallented. He did some great hands free singing. He needs a new cracker, he broke his one, at least he shared it! We then went back to Paul and Odell's (fabs rents) house for dinner and had a full cooked salmon and a huge French dessert. Continued today with present giving and ...

... before Colleen started to not feel well. It was about a 15min walk from our hotel, so while we strolled along to the cathedral, we saw more of the sites we viewed in the last stages of the river cruise, and the tropical area of Strasbourg. Photos attached. When we walked into the Le 1741 restaurant, we were greeted by staff that spoken pretty good English, so tonight will be a good night. They didn't have a set menu, but you had a choice of many different ...

We went to the local shops and bought two new jackets, pair of shoes, two scarves, two jumpers, three pairs of gloves and walkie talkies. Possible more but I don't remember. It is much cheaper for winter stuff here. Really good quality and looks fantastic. We spent way too much. Later the day we caught the bus to Strasbourg to see the Christmas markets. We walked through a massive shopping centre to get to the markets. I had to pee so went into Meccas ...
