Great location in the heart of Petite France on the Grand Rue. Short walk to the canals, Cathedral, etc. We arrived two hours before check-in but the staff said they'd have our room ready in ten minutes. Staff very friendly and helpful. Our third floor room decor was a strange mix of modern and post French Revolution. Good internet reception in room. No curtains only a thin pull-down shade. When the sun comes up at 6 AM, it's bright! Our room faced the street and a local street crowd on the corner howled at the moon until about 10 PM.

Strasbourg, France may be our favorite city we have visited so far but it was certainly a quest to get here.
Between 8:00 AM and noon we utilized virtually every public mode of transportation available.to get from Heidelberg to Strasbourg.
During that period we took two busses, two commuter trains plus a high speed bullet train …
It only took us just under an hour to drive to Strasbourg, parked in the carpark under the the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art. From here you have a great view across the river to the old town. See photo. We walked into town to the main square were you find the cathedral and a world famous restaurant Maison Kammerzell 16 place de la Cathedrale. See photo. What an experience! I dined ...

According to history, a castle has been there on the site since around 1200. The castle was twice destroyed once in the Reichskrieg's War of 1311 and then again in the city-state of Reutlingen in 1381. After this incident ...
... that, we went to the local cafe and had sandwiches on freshly-baked cheesy bread and coffee and tea. Back in the car, we started on the windy roads. At times, we seemed to have the entire road to ourselves. The roads were windy and some of the edges had sheer drops with no guard rails. We took it really slow and probably annoyed the occasional local that got stuck behind us. There's no way the speed limit ...
Today we went to Europa Park. The park is separated into all the different areas of Europe. From Russia to Spain to Iceland. It is themed like that country and has rides, shows and entertainment. Not opened at 11 so we got there early so we could go straight in and go on some rides without the queues. There still were queues though. We started with a bobsled roller coaster that Ash cracked me up! Her words- I don't like this, I don't like this, AHHHH! And at the end she wouldn't admit it ...
