I started today with a visit to Begijnhof, a oasis of peace in the midst of a busy city. Begijnhof is a square of houses laid out around a green and hosts a church and a chapel in its midst. It was founded in 1936 for a group of women called the Begijntjies, who were Catholics who lived like nuns but hadn't taken their vows.
