    ... because an adapted version of them we have today! Da Vince never actually manufactured any of his inventions because he was so busy designing new ones. But, a company called IBM took Leonardo's designs, followed them precisely and made models of what they would have looked like had Leonardo made them! Some ideas you may recognize include a parachute, circular life buoy, flippers, a military tank and even a 3 wheeled car! Pretty amazing!

    Took a taxi into the City of Tours to get our mini-bus tour of the chateaux. Started with a female guide and 4 Brazilians, swapped at lunch to a male French guide and 4 girls from Paraguay- maybe the Brazilians did not like us! First we went to Amboise. Beautiful chateau perched on the hill overlooking the centre of the town, where Leonardo Da Vinci is buried in a small chapel.     ... and peaceful house is set in Parc Leonardo Da Vinci. Here he finished work on his 3 favourite paintings, including the Mona Lisa. A copy of this hung in one of the rooms, much larger than the original that we hope to see next week. In the basement were numerous models of his inventions.
