French Riviera - May 26 thru June 2
    Hotel la Darse

Leaving Vernazza we eagerly board a 07:30 train to our next destination, the French Riviera, marking the beginning of a 3-month stay in various parts of France. Arriving at the Nice train station we march directly to the TI only to discover that we had gone one stop too far. No problem …

Our first port of call Villefranche in the French Riviera. After a lovely breakfast in Carioca's and a lack of information from DCL on how the tender system worked, we caught the tender ashore and met our tour guide Jerome, a Parisienne now settled in Nice. He was great, very knowledgable and very friendly. We set off along the winding coastal cliffs, stopping for a photo opportunity of Villefranche and the ship then on to Monaco. To beat ...

A cruise ship had weighed anchor in the inlet around which this town was built and, as such, there were plenty of camera ...

A cloudy day and a few drops of rain this morning, but we walked to the market which is on Wednesdays and Saturday mornings here. Will have to remember that they do beautiful roasted chickens here with potatoes roasting underneath to catch all the drippings. We bought some nice appetizers for our happy hour.

We visited the St Pierre Chapel which was restored by Jean Cocteau, a beloved man in this area. He painted the inside of the chapel with bible scenes relating to St Peter, ...

After an awesome breakfast, we approached Monte Carlo, Monaco. The shoreline was unbelievable as we passed by. Rugged high mountains with the city in the forefront. Very old looking with that expected rich look. Many million dollar yachts along the coastline....rough life for some. Monaco Upon leaving he ship, we encountered a marina full of million dollar yachts and the ...
