It turns out that our short stop over in Midoun was extended by a few extra days. It was difficult to leave the comforts of the quiet homely hotel. We spent 4 nights in Midoun, by accident. We had planned to leave on the 25th even made lunches for the following day and had packed up all our belongings that had found homes out of the panniers in the past few days. But when the alarm started ringing at 5:00am and the room was chilly and the bed so cozy ...

Bit of a slacker today, getting up at 0615. Shower and still no wifi luck. The Algerian Committee was first down for brekkie, the Chancellor of the Exchequer joining. He showed me some pix of him and Ratik in Algiers. Took the bag down c 0830.

The main course was grilled fish with rice and it was yummy. Desert consisted of lime sorbet and these very, very sweet cookies. (Ugh … serious diet needed!)

After lunch (which was more like early dinner since it was by now 5:00 p.m) we ...

This morning we visited the island of Djerba linked to the mainland by a 7k causeway across a shallow stretch of sea. The island is very low (15m max) & has many scattered houses between what were the oldest olive trees we have ever seen as with most Tunisian dwellings most under construction or semi derelict. The women here where quite distinctive clothes in the form of white tunic dress ...
