Then it was back to the churches, though some were closing for the afternoon by now, and a walk down the road to see the fountain Michael had discovered on his walkabout on the first evening. At night this is lit by colours, but it still looks good in sunlight. By now most places were closing (they do the afternoon siesta well in Italy!) so we decided on a long lunch ourselves.       ... seen this spectacle of love, indulgence, companionship, status symbol show off, exercise reason, advisor with the shopping, mobile doggy bag (for those times when one doesn't like what one has ordered!), and of course pick up line for that girl (or guy) one has always fancied! Parma's dogs...... Nearly as important as Parma's violets!

      ... WW2 and has been renovated to what it was in its glory days.

      The gallery beneath it has a wealth of treasures in it.... including a whole set of rooms dedicated to Correggio and Parmigianino.       Today was the day to visit Parma's main art gallery, and, as it turned out, the day that Joy found herself nose to nose with a drawing painted by Leonardo da Vinci. She knew that it was in the gallery but thought it would be behind armoured security glass and so on. Oh no, she was quite literally nose to nose with a da Vinci - for the second time on this trip - so she was understandably on an artisitic high when she finally emerged from the gallery. ...

      Yep, moving on day, to Parma this time, so an early start, after an excellent dinner last night. Up at 6am so that we could breakfast, pay hotel bill, bring down luggage etc by 8.05 for the taxi that was booked to take us the short distance to the bus station for our 8.30 bus to Pesaro. Seemed daft really to take a taxi for what is essentially a ten minute walk....but this walk is a big hill down and with four suit cases would have been a ...
