... full of people! Apart from a few cyclists we'd met the night before we thought the place was empty! After a breakfast of fresh bread rolls and hot coffee we decided to head into the village for a look around. Marky bought a lovely sports jacket to wear at our wedding. Very smart casual. ... me, again watching the rear mirrors was important - at least I was heading north west in the general direction of home...stopped at the top and took some pics of the views and cows as they came up "their road". ... mainland was a bit disappointing.Band of gypsies living behind hotel,great!! Went over to Venice for dinner tonight.Water taxi then beautiful dinner in lovely restaurant with whole group.Then walked around and saw St Marks square at night (awesome).Private water taxi back to bus.Venice at night was so beautiful. Hard to believe we're really here!! Next morning into Venice again ...

The reason for choosing this walk was to see the Fojaroi, stone buildings against a hillside with a roof of beech twigs and leaves. What is unusual here is that the twigs are " gathered during the last waning moon of the month of August before the leaves have begun to dry". This ensures that the twigs keep their leaves when bundled and placed on the roof. Similar system to the english thatch. If done properly, the roof can remain ...

... was one way traffic only, controlled by traffic lights. Switchback upon switchback, and even having the whole road to yourself, you still didn't end up with a lot of road. All the while the rain was bucketing down. Instant waterfalls were appearing along the cliff face, with the water fortunately being contained behind extensive walls and captured within massive drains.
