After breakfast at the hotel we walked around the streets of Dakovo for a little while and then went to meet up with Josip and Marijan. They took us Gasinci to see the house that Frank's grandfather built, on his Dad's side, which was also where his parents lived before leaving Croatia for Australia. We visited Frank's Dad's cousin who still lives in Gasinci with his daughter. We also visited the cemetery where Frank's grandfather is ...

We had breakfast at the hotel and then took the hotels shuttle service to Stuttgart airport. We were early, so killed some time shopping.

We drove straight to Dakovo, a two hour drive, and found a hotel. Luckily the only hotel in Dakovo had a vacancy for us!
    We dropped off ...

After a bit of confusion we managed to negotiate our tickets and started off on a 5 hour walk through the most beautiful scenery I have ever witnessed. The Park is themed around a series of lakes and cascades that ...

We visited a monastery and listened to an organ concert in the Lady of Osijek Sanctuary, a church built in the early 1700's in the baroque style, very ornate. From here we went to a home and had a typical meal, nine in our group. Vegetable soup (from the garden), chicken schnitzel, mashed potatoes with fried onions (OMG!) and lettuce salad, fresh picked with homemade apple ...

... 25000 defenders were killed they held off the attackers for 87 days while outnumbered 20 -1. Vukovar is often called The Hero Town. Vukovar has 40 per cent unemployment and still has scars of the conflict. The water tower which we saw pulling into town is still riddled with bullets and has pieces missing. Osijek has restored many of its buildings which was built in Austria- Hungarian baroque architecture. Tonight ...
