          ... which I actually appreciated.

But Osijek brought us some wonderful delights. A school program was planned for us at a facility that houses ages 6-7 through 15. Children sang songs, mostly in English, including “It's a Wonderful Life”! What irony, though these children had not lived through this war. The kids did hilarious skits, played instrumental music (including “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”) and charmed each and every one of ...

... Croatian Tamburica band that plays "tamburo" music. These six guys playing string instruments were wonderful. One instrument was completely unfamiliar to me. It began with a “B” in Croatian but the English translation is “pearl”. As they were playing, I was thinking, this sounds a little like Bill Monroe. After breakfast at the hotel we walked around the streets of Dakovo for a little while and then went to meet up with Josip and Marijan. They took us Gasinci to see the house that Frank's grandfather built, on his Dad's side, which was also where his parents lived before leaving Croatia for Australia. We visited Frank's Dad's cousin who still lives in Gasinci with his daughter. We also visited the cemetery where Frank's grandfather is ...

We had breakfast at the hotel and then took the hotels shuttle service to Stuttgart airport. We were early, so killed some time shopping.
On arriving at Zagreb airport we picked up the hire car and got on the road straight away.
We drove straight to Dakovo, a two hour drive, and found a hotel. Luckily the only hotel in Dakovo had a vacancy for us!
          We dropped off ...

          Vukova Croatia

Left the ship 9am. Short walking tour through the war torn streets of Vukova. Weather overcast but not wet. Visit to Osijek and the Franciscan church with organ recital and a walk through the old town square. We visited a village home for a Croatia home cooked lunch, which was very tasty. Everything on the table was got from the garden! We then visited a Cellar and tasted three different wines. Sailed for Belgrade ...
