... the border, there was a long queue of wagons waiting to cross , but we were able to use the EU lane, see! the EU does have it's occasional uses. Passports stamped we approach customs, we had already prepared Dream Catchers documents in case they required them, but the very nice smiling official asked if we had anything to declare and where we were heading, he then asked for the dog passport, we obviously must have given the correct replies as he waved us on. Djakovo 22nd.
Part of the intrepid trip we are on included a trip to Djakovo, we drove there from Osijek in an old Mercedes Benz and loved every moment, it was early morning so the sun was rising over the barren fields. The whole thing is run by the government and though they are on ...

After breakfast at the hotel we walked around the streets of Dakovo for a little while and then went to meet up with Josip and Marijan. We visited Frank's Dad's cousin who still lives in Gasinci with his daughter. We also visited the cemetery where Frank's grandfather is ...

We had breakfast at the hotel and then took the hotels shuttle service to Stuttgart airport. We were early, so killed some time shopping.
On arriving at Zagreb airport we picked up the hire car and got on the road straight away.
We drove straight to Dakovo, a two hour drive, and found a hotel. Luckily the only hotel in Dakovo had a vacancy for us!
    We dropped off ...

... Lovely family, their married daughter translated, they also run a B&B. They showed us their garden, so friendly. We passed a large environment park, people come to bird watch but there are still land mines in the area. We passed places with large signs to warn of them. Our last stop was a cultural centre, we saw a very short film about the country with some added commentary abut the history, presented in a funny way. We tasted wine, salami and red pepper spread, ...
