Here are some pictures from the opnening ceremony, the treisure hunt and the party in the evening. The treisure hunt was organized by the students comitee. Every class had "Fadere" -> mentors or guides. We went through Notodden and had to fullfill differnt tasks. Very funny! :)

... pyramid shaped remembrance momument is definitely worth a look before finally arriving at Stavern. Described as Norway's smallest town and affectionately 'known as the dimple of Norway'. Not sure if i would describe it as a dimple but it is definitrly worth a visit a small town which is so laid back. ... is really great on this trip. He is able to carry on talking with people which helps me out me out a lot. With my having to keep the trip going with calls ahead, making sure that our visits are helpful, writing, etc. Bruce has been most helpful about engaging the people we visit in discussion. ... has to climb down to help me take my board off and I climb back up with only a story to tell as a result of the fall - which is good news. The rest of the day went as planned, without any problems. I find out that you can drink beer as a passenger in Norway, so that certainly made the drive back better. We spend the night hanging out with a group at Thomas' house and even make a frosty hike to the local pub.

... My job was to make the food. We have potatoes sliced up. We cooked them on the fire and put corn, cheese, ham and other toppings on them. It was really good, and it was my first warm lunch I had here. We also made pinnebrød, which is bread wrapped around a stick and cooked in the fire. It was really good. For dessert we had bananas with brown sugar and cinnamon on them. We cooked them in the fire ...

... but is a wealthier town because of the old whaling money. We saw a boat there that sails to Sweden. I'd like to take it sometime. ;) In the evening Joe and Erlend (his cousin who I've been calling Allan...yep, that's embarrassing) and I went bowling. It was good fun. I got a strike on my first turn and won the first game, so that was exciting. Both Joe and Erlend beat me at air-hockey, which was intense. It was a fun evening.

... movie (which is a big deal considering how much it costs to make one of those!). Of course there weren't any English subtitles so I was pretty clueless most of the time. I got most of the plot, but it was kind of a strange plot to start with. It's about a really sketchy guy who is an elefant trainer for the circus and wants to start his own circus.
