... greeted by a reasonably nice German Lady who let is in to the house, which was full of antiques, but nothing much seemed to work. We had to toast bread in the oven, boil the kettle on the hotplate, and she had a very creepy looking son who wore his shorts way too high, and we were all scared that he was an axe-murderer. Pottered about the little town of Pella near to where we are staying. Sat on wooden bench on quayside scoffing a gelato each like oldies do apparently. Delightful. The most beautiful so far! And we have a really nice apartment this time. Rather traumatic drive here though as it was our first fairly prolonged exposure on this holiday to the infamous autostrada system around Milan. Bit like midlands M6 on steroids. No really hairy moments but a few expletives involuntarily uttered by one of us (well me actually) and apologised for! Flipping toll ...

Decided we would visit the 3 Borromeo Islands, Isola Madre, Isola Superiore Pescatori and Isola Bella.

Didn't spend much time on Isola Madre, we were more interested in visiting the Villa and gardens on Isola Bella.

Had lunch at Pizzeria La Rondine on Isola Pescatori and seated at the table beside us were a couple of young men from Victoria. In fact one is a decendant (his ...
