... or anything, but stuff was actually open! The restaurant directly opposite our hotel, Nasi Ayam Pak Kong, already had a queue of about 6 people waiting for tables or takeaways. Of course we joined the queue... stood there for a few minutes trying to figure out the system and thankfully were then approached by a lady who found us 2 seats sharing a table with some locals. In fact, everyone in there was local.. we had seen zero farang's (Thai word for foreigner) ...

OK the taxi was a bit ancient and our driver seemed to be eating a gobstopper, so understanding the places of interest he pointed out was difficult. First stop Perak Tong a mind blowing massive cave temple. I struggled to sleep at night as it was just so cold but this has given me the time slot to FaceTime home and see my lovelies. Looking forward to some sunshine, a couple of darker shades on the tan and to see my girlies for 3 weeks ...

... milk. Next early morning we were already on the road.

The first stop on our way was Ipoh, a pleasant town full of faded colonial buildings with skeleton-like Chinese shop owners inside.

Ipoh also turned out to be the happening foodie destination. That became clear after we tried local delicacy, crispy Hainanese chicken served ...

... Highlands. We fell asleep immediately and woke up in Tanah Rata 2 hours later.

      Day 1: April 26, 2014

After our arrival in Tanah Rata we started to look for accommodation. Unluckily we didn't know that prices go up on Fridays and Saturdays, but not just a little bit they are twice as high. We were first warned by two Spaniards who we met at the bus station of Tanah Rata and later we ascertained about it on our own. Oh, I haven't mentioned it yet....it ...
