Away from Melaka we took a bus to Kuala Lumpur and then straight for Ipoh. We were welcomed with huge arms by Soh, Amanda's nanny from when she was young, living in Malaysia. We arrived late in the afternoon, and had a nap before dinner which was prepared by Soh for us, since the rains began pouring down. Once again, it's hard to get too upset at over development especially when your visiting there is part of the problem, but while we still would recommend a visit to this region that still has a lot of beauty and some charm, it's obvious that it used to be prettier and will probably be less so in the upcoming years.
