... or anything, but stuff was actually open! The restaurant directly opposite our hotel, Nasi Ayam Pak Kong, already had a queue of about 6 people waiting for tables or takeaways. Of course we joined the queue... stood there for a few minutes trying to figure out the system and thankfully were then approached by a lady who found us 2 seats sharing a table with some locals. In fact, everyone in there was local.. we had seen zero farang's (Thai word for foreigner) ...

Most of it was a boardwalk however we did a little further into the forest on a trail. It was almost ...

... about 3 weeks previously... Such a treat! Simple things please a backpacker!! We'd booked to do a local half day tour because we didn't have long on that day in the area. The tour involved tea plantations, a tea factory, a strawberry farm and a visit to the oldest forest in Malaysia. It was a good tour but was really knackering! Thee views here are amazing - there are loads of viewpoints ...

... milk. Next early morning we were already on the road.

The first stop on our way was Ipoh, a pleasant town full of faded colonial buildings with skeleton-like Chinese shop owners inside.

Ipoh also turned out to be the happening foodie destination. That became clear after we tried local delicacy, crispy Hainanese chicken served ...
