Departed Lauhans and headed back to Pont de Vaux over the next couple of days. Spent 2 nights in Pont de Vaux, refuelled and stocked up then headed for Lyon -3 days cruising south.
Met our first really big lock and handled it superbly. Stopped for the night at Macon and woke there to the sounds of the markets right next door to our mooring. Headed to Lyon -Frances 3rd ...
... between 3 tours. It ended up being a huge night for me. I was among the last standing again. I was told that I slept in the lobby when my room was occupied.
Midday Saturday was when I eventually woke up. Not in the lobby, I made it to bed. Not sure when, but it was early morning. Missed breaky, missed lunch. Lunch was at 1030 with a walk up a mountain so you could have a pickpocket on top. Matt, who also slept in, and I walked up at 12 ...
... quite violently. But we survived and pottered down the rest of the canal at a stately 4 mph.
Invited to Alan and Shiela's boat for drinks and nibbles which turned into getting quite sloshed. An enjoyable way to end the day.
We are taking it easy over the next couple of days and then heading on our first foray down the canals, up the Saone, and onto the Sellie River heading to Louhans. Quite the little adventurers.

Huge park in Lyon, with lakes, walk tracks, saw at least 5 wedding there, row boats, kids and dogs playing, couples holding hands, very warm, big trees, lots of ducks, more weddings, ice creams, more kids -great park:
Went to art museum, from Picasso's to modern French, usual stuff.
Went to Modern Art Gallery, a bit more interesting, with installations, 100's of sculptures,
... street we came to the square which had a beautiful wooden house on the corner that is very well known. Further down the same street was the Hotel de Ville and St. Peter's cathedral. This was very beautiful. Of course, we went inside. It is a very old Gothic cathedral with the altar draped for Ascension Day. We then stopped at a local cafe and had cappuccino.
There will be a wine and cheese tasting this afternoon.
