Today we went to Pisa. We hopped on a local train after getting our tickets. We almost got on the wrong train but quickly realised it was not correct and indeed was going the wrong way. We got on the correct train and relaxed, when we were almost at our destination the train officer came around checking tickets, when he came to ours he discovered that we did not validate our tickets in the small machine ...
... was a lot more local. We headed across the river, up the pedestrianized tourist streets with chain shops like H&M and Zara (ubiquitous in any foreign city it seems!). The Tower itself was not what I was expecting. Set almost on the outskirts of the city, it's situated inside the Field of Miracles, along with Duomo di Pisa (a cathedral), a baptistery and a monumental cemetery. ... were great! We could see all of the famous buildings of and pretty lights. Unfortunately the lights at the lookout were so bright that we couldn't see the stars very well. We all managed to see a shooting star but soon we felt tired and just wanted to go to bed.
The way back was long, but doable. We got back around 1:30AM and I immediately fell asleep when my head hit the pillow.

... in the same church that Puccini attended when in Lucca. The acoustics in the church were amazing, and the opera singers sang selections from La Traviata, La Boheme, and other operas. The singing was sublime, so good that I felt goosebumps when the soprano hit the high notes.
