Whilst friends enjoy the first day opening of some resorts in the Alps and Americans struggle to get out of their homes, I am walking each day in shirt-sleeves and temperatures of 21 degrees. Twists, turns, mountain passes and serene villages, its just great, as is the food and ...

Cherry and I walked the mountain to see the Stations of the Cross and drank the Holy Water from the Grotto. There were lots of people waiting to go into the baths but you weren't allowed to watch. We purchased little bottles to take some Holy Water home but you could buy 5 ...

... well guarded overnight by the owners friendly Alsatian. Rode the 16 km to Biert on now familiar road (felt the loose gravel on one corner). The obligatory cafe stop - spoke with Liz about my new plans of slowly getting to Pisa. My guess was correct Liz approved! What better way to fuel up for a 400 km + ride through some if the most spectacular mountains in Europe than a hearty steak lunch from Bruno's place (was better & much cheaper than the expensive ...
