So many volcanos
Apparently there are 2000 volcanos in Chile. My favourite volcano by far is Osorno (active), white capped and pyramid shaped it is visible directly across the lake from our hotel bedroom. We're very lucky, it transpires, as both today & yesterday have been glorious. Blue skies, sunshine and best of all wonderfully clear views of the lake and …
Chilly Chile
We are now in chilly Chile and it has hardly stopped raining since we crossed the border 5 days ago. Good weather to write a blog so I will catch up with our recent activities.
Before leaving our Bariloche home we had friends to stay and we enjoyed exploring new aspects of the area as well as some favourites. They agreed that our favourite …
Full Day at Puerto Varas
Today is Thursday, February 3rd and and we are now sitting in the airport waiting for our flight where we will go to Puerto Montt which was named after the president of Chile from 1851-1861.
The weather there is supposed to be rainy and cold and some of the most luscious beautiful scenery you've ever seen. Upon arrival, the weather is …

Hello Chile!

It wasn’t long before we were passing immigration at an icy Argentine border and then back on the bus to traverse the Pueyehue National Park. Now, this park has a bit of reputation.. as recent as 2011, this park is responsible for worldwide aviation disruption, mass evacuation and billions spent on re-fueling damaged local ...

TravelPod Member ReviewsHotel Cumbres Patagonicas Puerto Varas
Ensure you book a room facing the lake. You really don´t want to be looking out onto the car park. The lounge is stunning and the bar food is good but the service is rather slow and laboured. Easy walking to the town. Breakfast is good but it would be more helpful if the coffee was self service as finding a waiter to serve coffee was rather painful.
