Welcome to our new house in Kusel

... from getting fatigued so they'll stay in the store longer. Or perhaps to get respite to the bored husbands. In Spesbach we went Luc's, where Andrew and I took a break from the Tiffany lamps and ornately worked armoires with a coffee and chocolate pieces downstairs.

Luc's is a great place for antiques. While it does cater to Americans, the pieces they have are awesome, and expectedly expensive. Tracy and I bought a Tiffany lamp (not an original), and a couple of little ...

Surprise reunion

... the rest of the day in Strasbourg, eating at the same restaurant I ate at last time so he could experience tarte flambee. We also tried some Alsatian wine, which was excellent.

He went in the cathedral while I waited in the sunshine with Lincoln, so I still haven't seen the interior or gone up the tower. We also went on a mini train tour of the city which was pretty fun, being a serious tourist.

We headed back to the train station after a quick ...

We made it!

YES! We made it Germany. We got here at about 10 am local time, about 4am ET.

After waiting for over 10 hours in BWI and then a 7-hour flight with very little sleep, we were happy to be here but also exhausted. Unfortunately, there were no rooms at the lodging near the terminal. My choices were to wait here ...

A Brief Stop in Alsace

He Said:

Well, since I was the one who wasn't too sure about spending the night in Strasbourg, I’m pretty much the ******* here. I had a few reasons: 1) The ride from Reims to Munich was set to be a long one, so I thought it might be a good idea to get even closer than Strasbourg, 2) I was really curious to check out a new city in Germany such as Ulm, and 3) I was under the impression that Strasbourg was predominately an industrial-type ...

The cradle of Europe

... and got lost trying to find others. Our feet were tired and our minds were overflowing with information. The Zevisit audiotours were interesting and informative, but we all agreed two in one day was too many. We decided to take a tram back to the centre and browsed in a few shops on our way back to the car. Then we spotted an ice cream cafe and decided it would be nice to sit and relax with a deliciously decadent ice cream dessert.

Casino, Fair, and Folk Dancing

I slept very late (10 am) because I read my book until about midnight. Jonathan and his friends were playing cards by firelight outside. (I would have had marshmallows to toast, but they had sausages instead.) For lunch we had tarte flambée, a Lubrez family tradition for Daniel's birthday. He says that he is the cook, but Denise did most of the work and Jonathan tended the fire. The tarte ...

A Weekend in Berlin

... shops and the items they sell, and of course comparing prices. A cup of coffee here, some fruit there, taking in everything as I walk along. The early evening meal, I decided, was to be Italian, but first it was back to the hotel. When I visit any city for the first time, the thing I do is to orientate myself. What shops, restaurant, etc. lie close to my hotel. Since I have been here before I know exactly where to get things that I want. There is a good supermarket less ...

Slow Down

... good show, and it was nice to see some live music.

Bernard and Michelle (Sandra's aunt and uncle) drove me down to Strasbourg the next day, dropping me off at the hostel and everything. This was where I was asked for the 3rd time if I was quebecoise. Of course, they never think that for long....as soon as they think that they start talking really fast and then I have to ask them to slow down.

Anyway, going to rent a bike now. Caio!
