Lazy day in Punta Gorda, Cienfuegos

A travel blog entry by antheamac on Nov 13, 2014

... served by a very obliging man all for 12 CuCs ie 8 for the two of us.
We meandered back past a very grand county club and a hotel. On return to the casa we intended to have some water and go for another walk , but with tired feet and it being hot that did not happen. A nice shower and then a fish supper, also cooked in the outdoor charcoal oven ended the day well. Our journey to the upstairs bedroom was viewed by three little patched frogs out to get their evening ...

The first breakfast at the casa particularis here was very good and very large, pancakes with honey, tropical fruit, fruit juice, omelet, cheese and ham and coffee, plus bread we had no space for!
We headed off into the town to buy our bus ticket to Trinidad, exchange some money and find an Internet cafe. It was a nice walk, with a coffee stop along the way as we walked along the palm lined waterfront. The buildings in the town were not quite as grand ...

We had packed our bags the night before, except for the last minute things, breakfast at 8am and off to find a taxi to take us to the Viazul bus station. We had booked our tickets two days before. We had our morning coffee there before boarding the bus.We did not see our bags going onto the bus so Anthea went to investigate and organised the bus officials to collect the bags from the left luggage area! We had been warned that the bus trip and getting on it ...

... museum, lookout, and transport is a big cost. It seems any where you turn will cost. Strangely too the prices of basics like water vary widely wherever you go as well as drinks of beer, cocktails can be doubled and it may not be in fancier places just anyone seems to charge what they can or maybe are told to, who knows?. Given the number of tourists, the entry visa and exit fee is 50 CUC so when you add all that up there is a lot of money coming in.I was scammed often ...

... We were even able to watch some movies in English! The food: Due to nothing being close, and only an insight snack bar and restaurant - this was our dinner stop. The usual options, with inflated prices and not as good quality. Just as expected. Tips: - bring your own food and booze. There are bar fridges in the rooms to keep things cool. - go on the cave walk and go all the way to the end and take snorkeling gear. Trust ...
