In our best french we explained our situation and he exclaimed 'pas problem' and directed us to another aire about 5 miles away, or perhaps we would like to stay at a closer aire at the port overlooking the harbour which was free for motorhomes (that sounded more like it), so after thanking him for his kindness and feeling elated that we managed a conversation with a real ...

(Sun) Well I guess that our run of good weather had to end at some point and that was today. Just about managed to make it back from the boulangerie without our baguette and croissants getting too wet! Had a leisurely breakfast where we savoured every mouthful of our pepito (chocolate) croissants before heading out into the rain to stock up on groceries for the week. Just noticed that deisel is 20p per litre cheaper than the ...

... s known was a bit disappointing though. The winding medieval streets with shops selling ye olde, cheesy souvenirs and overpriced food and drink, wind all the way up to the Abbey from where you can enjoy fantastic views. And outside the car park is crammed with coach parties following midgets hidden under their umbrellas. It’s a shame this place of pilgrimage has been spoilt by the new bridge linking it to the main land and we wished we’d seen ...

... edgy watching it come in . . . but maybe that was just me.

We walked back out to the car park about 4 p.m. and were on our way to Bayeux where we would stay the night for my tour tomorrow. A late dinner (for us) in a little French restaurant, but aren't they all? Most better restaurants don't even open for dinner until 7 p.m. here so hardly early for the locals. End of another fantastic day.
