We've looked back on some trips we've done in the past and thought it would've been nice to spend more than a single evening in one place, so for this trip we planned a day off.
Paul Henderson in his 'Cycling the French Alps' book recommends Brianšon as a good place to spend a day off the bike, so we took his advice.

... got better as we left behind the cloud cover on the top of the mountain, and the sun brought welcome relief from the freezing cold.
Once past the twisty bits, there is a long straight slightly undulating stretch that is perfect for tandems, and we were able to settle into a comfortable 35 kph and enjoy the scenery.
