... s when the heavens opened and we had an almighty thunderstorm, so we jump turned the bikes round, had some bananas the old woman gave us and rolled quite precariously back down the mountain. We did make it to the beach to join the girls (who also got lost on foot and ended up hiking through the jungle), but it was still raining so we all ended up heading home anyway!<br>

... small, hippie, and cute. i loved it. the hostel was on the coast but in the jungle... like i had to crawl over snakes and wave hi to the monkeys.... it was great. the hostel had a warm shower, was very clean and small , only a few guests.... hard wood floors. i met some people my age, cool and we headed headed to a natural water pool that involved a hike that felt like the jungle gym was our enormous junglegym... the natural pool was shallow ...

The funny thing about historical places is that people ruin them by putting ****** stores there to ruin the atmosphere.  Anyway, we walked around taking pictures, eating sweets, and trying to not break my ankle on the streets ...

... being recognized on return visits. GT occupied himself with games, reading and hanging with the hostel crowd, in general just avoiding having to mooch round the shops with me. We meet some great people, girls from Norway, lads from ole Blighty, an Argentinean who had lived in NZ for a year and picked fruit in the Bay, amongst others. Our final night after mastering the game of '*******' with drinks flowing we finished up in a Samba bar, Paraty 33, and danced the morning in.
