... are more au revoirs in the breakfast room. The Bernards are waiting at the door as our taxi arrives and we hug four more times. Finally we are at the airport; Bob has gotten his VAT, we are checked in, through security and passport control and are sitting in the lounge waiting to board the A320 to London and then a 737 to BWI. ... for the family but that's harder than it sounds. After a couple hours of no luck I decided to go back to the hostel and get ready to go to Monaco! ... was about 50 soldiers down the bottom and then we had fighter jets doing a fly by as well! We couldn't muck around too long because we still needed to get to Avignon and then a two hour drive to Nice. We drove to Avignon and then promptly got lost trying to find the parking building. Juan-les-Pins was a popular place for writers during the Jazz Age and still has an annual jazz festival in July. We passed a park where many jazz and some rock artists had performed, but no shows were scheduled while we were there. I've posted the signed handprints in the sidewalk of some I recognized.
