    ... trails, some even paved.

We started by taking a train to Manarola, the second of the 5 towns. As we approached our station the train did not stop and it went by town 3 an 4 finally stopping at Monterrosa. This is where we started Sunday’s trek. Were we doomed to do it again? No we would simply take the next train back to Manarola. But we missed the return train by 5 minutes. We would have to wait two hours in a town with ...

... train station to go back and see if Josef was back yet. When we arrived, we found that he still hadn't messaged us back and we were worried. We went to the office and sure enough he had checked in! We ran to our room and we saw all of his stuff there but no Josef. Back in Aeroporto Angelo Vespucci Firenze for the flight home. A certain famous professor is sitting just behind me (no Sunil, not Halle Berry this time) speaking in Tamil with his wife (no, nothing scandalous to report). It's been an interesting few days at the conference - some of the issues are identical to ours in Singapore, some completely alien. There were speakers who befuddled with what seemed like font size 8 covering entire PowerPoint slides, while others (like the ...

... door. We took a minute to rest and take in the beautiful views and then checked in. We had some pizza in the hostel cafe and then Bryce and the kids explored a bit to see what the town was like. We are all very excited about tomorrow! We found out that the vineyard hike, which comes recommended by Rick, is literally right outside our door. Now off to bed, so we can rise early and enjoy our day in the Cinque Terre.
